I had a doctor's appointment today. I wanted to get a check up on my blood pressure and ask the doc about the health of my heart. Well... my blood pressure is somewhat high but NOT too high which is good.... BUT he did tell me I need to start EXERCISING again. And when I tried to explain to him why I hadn't, he bluntly told me, "No excuses. You could go for a walk with your baby in your stroller..." etc. etc. Holy cow. That's the first time a doctor has told me that! LOL But he's right. There isn't an excuse although I like to think I have "valid" ones. I'm just damn lazy y'all. But I HAVE to start working out again. I have gained weight! The scale don't lie! And I hadn't weighed myself in a LONG time. I was shocked! LOL Like, "How did this happen???" Oh yeah, midnight snacking... having bowls of cereal after midnight? Duh! It's got to stop. I will start working out.
As for the symptoms I described to him, he says it may just be from my blood pressure and of course it's due to my kidneys. So he gave me a referral to see a Nephrologist (which will probably have to be one in Las Cruces or El Paso). I haven't seen one in over 2 years! Gah. I'm so bad. I'm supposed to see one annually. He also started me on some medication for my blood pressure. So that means I REALLY REALLY have to work hard at weaning Sofia. He said it isn't harmful for her but you just never know. She likes it more for comfort now. I started today. She's used to having it going down for nap and I just didn't give in today. She eventually fell asleep. Of course, I had to cuddle with her... and that works so.... wish me luck! For real this time because I've tried weaning her and it's so hard that I always give in.
I also have to fast today so that I can go get some bloodwork done so they can check my cholesterol level. =/ Gosh, getting older sucks! haha
Anyway... if you guys have any delicious healthy food recipes, pass them on down. Time to eat healthy again and time to start shedding off some pounds. Anybody in with me? HAHA!
walking is great exercise and it'll be good for sofia to be out in the clean air. it'll be fun and just think if you take your camera with ya???!?!?!? ha! it wont even feel like exercise it'll be like a field trip.
ReplyDeletei'll think on the healthy food stuff. i use to be big on eating cereal after my kids went to bed at night-i dont know what it is about cereal, but YUM!
This will be a piece of cake for you Tocayita!! I think it's just a thing of getting into the habbit of walking. Trust me, I have my treadmill, but I haven't been able to use it daily. Hubby and I have been cutting out fast-food, that helped a lot. Good luck and I'm with you Tocayita!!! Let's do THISss!!!
ReplyDeleteI need to follow your footsteps no matter how hard I try I am just not able to control my gestational diabetes. I might have to be put on insulin and that is scaring me bigtime.
ReplyDeleteYou can do it. You just gotta get moving and it will all fall into place. You did it before and can do it again. I know just how hard it is to get motivated!!! My day fly's by and I'm like "Who has time to work out!? I need to get on the pc now!" lol As a matter O'fact I started today! I'm doing it at school so I will be force to! They have a program walking the dog. Kids walk laps and get prizes. We have parents do it too. So Stef gave me my walking card today. I did 5 laps!!!! So now I have this card and the school knowing this so it forces me! lol good luck and happy healthy eating! I don't eat diet wise, I just eat smaller portions. I love food too much!
ReplyDeletewell first of all i'm happy to hear you are going to start walking with sofia. i've been doing some of that too and it's helped me to reduce my stress level. good luck hon and stick to it, you can do it!
ReplyDelete*hugs*
Don't feel bad. Most of us are going through the "weight" issue. Me esp. being one of them. I guess we just have to make up our mind to give up certain things that we "know" are not healthy for us and start exercising. AND I hate to exercise! So I make myself walk Peyton in his buggie car. It gets him out and it gets me walking. Ugggh. I rather sit on the couch. So bad, bad, bad! Anywat, good luck girlfriend! I know you can do it!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say getting older sucks necessarily. I'll be 32 this year and I haven't really had to many issues with my health, I do take vitamins and other things every day to increase whatever I may be lacking. I used to take my son to the lake on the weekends and take walks after he was born, it would have been easy to settle in and make excuses for my laziness. I had read that after birth you should exercise frequently to loose the baby weight and most of it I did. The weight I have now is "relationship weight", however we're both committed to staying thin. Seems to me you eat pretty healthy. Instead of changing the way I eat I usually cut portions in half and pretty much graze eat through the day. So far it's been working. Good luck on the weaning I know it's tough, took me a while for my son.
