R emember when you were little? Remember when all you had to worry about was "homework"? Outlining letters on a sheet of paper? And DANG wasn't that difficult at the time? I remember I always tried to do it with my left hand cause I wanted to be a lefty. I thought "lefties" were so cool... lmao! I was such a dork! Oh! And how about report cards! I think that's the biggest worry as a kid. I remember sporadic little things like that. I remember I had this favorite shirt. It was purple with pink. It had some cartoon girl on the front and she was soooooo pretty! I wore that shirt out. I loved to wear it everytime I went to the park to show it off to all the little girls. "Look at my shirt! Isn't it pretty?" LOL! A few weeks ago, I decided to start on the task of scanning pictures I have in a big box.
I came across a picture of myself when I was in between the age of 5 and 7. It was taken one day when Mom and Dad took us to the park. I wore that very t-shirt I was talking about. I remember driving there, all excited... looking down on my shirt, pulling it from the bottom far out enough so I could admire it before we got there. It was glittery too. I remember that! And I loved when the sunlight hit it because it sparkled really pretty. I wore it with some funky pants though. They didn't match. The pants were blue. (Yes, I never matched when I was a kid) But did I care? Heck no! I had my pretty shirt on! That's all that mattered! I don't know what happened to that shirt. I'm sure I felt sad when I couldn't wear it anymore. It was my favorite!
I'm so glad that somebody took this picture of me because it brings back lots of memories... not just of that day. But of my childhood. This is why I want to take pictures of Sofia all the time. I want to be able to have them for her to look at when she grows up. I know now that I'm older, I wish I had more pictures of when I was little. Ya know? The 80's were awesome, weren't they? I would relieve them again if I could. I could say that the 80's was my favorite era so far. It's music rocked too! Here are some 80's tunes for ya to enjoy. They all remind me of my childhood one way or another. I hope it brings back memories for you too.
Download all or some of these songs!!
Hands to Heaven: I didn't even know what this song was about at the time. I hadn't suffered a loss in the family at that time but I just loved it... It was recorded onto all of my cassette tapes at the time. As an adult now and understanding the words, I LOVE THIS SONG even more!
Karma Chameleon: Oh gosh... I remember this song! If I had a movie of my life filmed, this song would definitely be in it's soundtrack!
What's Love Got To Do With It: I remember wearing those leggings and dancing in the streets like the couple did in the video. hahaha! Tina Turner rocks! I remember I used to smile and feel relieved at the end when the couple makes up. LOL! SUCH a GEEK!
Love is a Battlefield: Dude... her hair rocked, didn't it? LOL Big hair was awesome in the 80's. I kinda miss all the "Aqua Net".
Solid: I remember jammin' to this in my room. LOL
Don't You Forget About Me: Don't you EVER! *wink*
the 80's rocked. definitely my favorite decade! thanks for the tunes!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! =)
ReplyDeleteI love that first song.. they play it here at work all the time through the radio. I feel like I missed a big part of the 80's music being how I was raised in Puerto Rico so I wasn't as exposed to the music back then except maybe Whitney Houston "How Will I Know" & Phil Collins' songs since my dad used to like listening to him. Maybe a little bit of Madonna but that was it. I didn't know English back then so I feel like I missed out in that regard.
ReplyDeleteI like that pic of you having fun in your favorite pink shirt :) how cute. I also don't have very many pictures of myself as a kiddo, but when I have kids I'll take tons of pics of them. I'm sure Sofia would love hers when she grows up.
Quick question.. how do you make your box widget pink like that? I have one but it's white?
Girl you know I'm an 80's chick!lol

ReplyDeleteThe 80's still rock! Love the pic. . .my parents love pictures and it shows because I have boxes full of my sis, brother, and I when we were little. I often find myself looking through them and just crack up at what I thought was cool back then. Unfortunately, through HS I went through a rebellious stage and have only a handful of pix from then. . .I so regret that! LOL.

oh mujer, I just know that if we would have grown up in the same neighborhood we would have been BFF's! I had this purple dress that had a rainbow and moon and stars on it. But the best part, was that if you pushed on of the stars it would play twinkle twinkle little star. My god I loved that dress. I also had this glitterly cat sweatshirt that I adored! And the songs, man they take me back. I loved culture club as a kid. Oh and lefties are cool. My husband is one and he is the coolest guy I know!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone!
