Orange Water Recipe.

This recipe is to make sweet orange water. I'm sure it's nothing new to some of you but I wanted to share with you anyway. My Mother taught me how to make this. All credit goes to her. Whenever I make this I think of her. It also reminds me of the BURNING hot Summers in Arvin, CA back in my High School days. I remember my hubby used to walk me home from school. Poor guy... the walk home was a short one. I was fortunate to live really close to school. I'd get there in 5-10 minutes. In the Summer though, that little short walk felt like (excuse the expression) HELL! LOL!!! And my poor hubby (boyfriend at the time) had to do the walk back to school again to catch his bus back home or go to football practice. When we'd get to my house, we'd sit outside in the shade and I'd offer him a cup of water. Mom almost always had Orange Water during the summer. It was a TREAT! I'd run inside, put some ice in a glass and pour him some orange water. He'd gulp that thing down in a second! LOL That's what Mom's Orange Water reminds me of... *hehe* Memories.... Yes, I miss my Mom too!

Normally this water is best to do during the summer. I know it's probably still snowing and freezing around most of you but I had a LOT of oranges at home and they were starting to go bad and I knew we weren't going to finish them all in a day. LOL! So this is what made me made think to make the water today. Chilled and served with ice is best. Personal preference though. Enjoy!

Ingridients:

10-12 Oranges (That's how many I had. You can use more) Save one whole orange for round slices to add to water at the end!
1 pint of water (This is an estimate only. It's really up to you. To taste)
Sugar (to taste)

Directions:
Cut your oranges in half.

Get your juicer out and get that juice out of those oranges, baby! If you don't have a juicer, just do it the ol' school way... I'm too lazy! LOL

This is how much juice I got out of my oranges. That's good enough.

Then add water to it. I filter tapped water for us to drink in our house. I'm against BOTTLE WATER! So add water to taste.

Now add sugar to taste... MMMM!

Mix and keep checking for flavor. Not sweet enough? Too much water? Add more sugar!
When the taste is just how you like it, grab that one orange you saved and cut round slices out of it, like so:

Not too thin, not too thick. Add to water.

Save one slice for cute deco... and VOILA! It's ready!

Hope you try it! If not now, in the summer when it gets hot. ;)
It's delicious, I promise.

Oh and keep some of the pulp... if you like it. It's yummy in the water when you're drinking it!

  1. That recipe sounds awesome! I am thinking making it but without the sugar since I am trying to cut it as much as possible from my diet. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Yeah, you can probably do without the sugar. Just don't add too much water in that case, so you can retain some of the sweetness from the oranges. =)
