I HEART Yoga!

I never thought I'd find myself saying this but I LOVE Yoga! I look forward to it every morning. I think it's finally become something routine for me. When I get up in the morning, I fix Sofia breakfast, serve it to her, Pop in a "Curious George" DVD for her and I go do my Yoga DVD in our bedroom. Each episode lasts about 30 minutes so when I'm finishing up, her show is done too. It's perfect! Two weeks ago, I went to the thrift store and was looking through the book section and came across a book titled "Yoga for Americans". I skimmed through it and realized it was a book published in 1962. I found that SO interesting! The ladies and men in the pictures in the book are so ol' school. Black and white pictures... LOL! But it's so good! Yoga is such an ancient practice that I'm sure not much has changed. It totally won me when I was going through some of their "diet" recommendations and it adviced readers to start their mornings with warm lemon water. HELLO! That's what I do every morning! HA! I brought it home with me. I started reading it and would you believe the book taught me how to "yoga breathe"? LOL! Yes... you should have seen me reading it and practicing.... and when I realized how to do it correctly I was SO proud of myself! I had a HUGE smile on my face that even Sofia noticed. She asked, "Are you happy?" LOL! I said "Yes because now I know how to breathe correctly when I do YOGA!" and I laughed. She just smiled back and said "Good..." hahaha! That little girl... she's either being a smarty pants or she really was happy for me! She's TOO smart for her own good! Now when I breathe I don't breathe in through my nostrils and it doesn't hurt me anymore. Now I breathe through the back of my throat and can inhale so much better. It's so hard to explain but OMG. I'm so happy! LOL I applied what I learned to my Yoga session today and WOW. Big difference indeed! I felt like a champ! Go me!

I tried showing Sofia how to do a yoga pose today. The tree pose and she...

It was hilarious! We both had this shocked look on our faces for 2 seconds and then we laughed really hard! LOL I said "Ewww... you FARTEDDDDD..." And she said "Yes I diddddddddd..." Like he was so proud of herself. LOL! Toddlers are funny. She's so fun at this age. My little brother would have been proud of her if he was still here. LOL

Speaking of my little brother... he called me today. And that just made my day. He was walking home from school, thought of me and decided to call me. So cute! I love that we have that type of relationship. Some people tell me that I've changed... I agree... I have. But I think that for the better. I still have the same love in my heart for sure. And I'm glad to see that my little brother still sees that in me. I miss him... and I miss you too, MOTHER! I know you're reading this! I wish we lived closer... maybe I could talk my Mom into doing Yoga with me if she were here... *hehe*

  4. You can try to do Yoga before you go to bed. It will help relax you chica. There's that destress yoga or the meditation yoga. You can incorporate that into your workouts once you get your treadmill back and get back into the swing of things! It's helped me so much with my anxiety. That's one of the many reasons I love it....
