You potty, I potty!

We finally bought Sofia her first potty this weekend. I can't believe we actually are potty training her! She knows when she's poopin' in her diaper now so that was a definite sign for me. Someone tell me why it's so difficult to pick a potty though? They have so many different ones at the store, I couldn't make up my mind on which one to buy. I loved the pink ones but I opted to get this one instead because it kind of looks like a real toilet so I wanted to make sure she got an idea what it was for. Not just some other toy she can play with! LOL My little brother was so anxious to help potty train her. It was so cute, he was explaining to her what it was for.... he even played out using it himself... HAHA! He kept making pushing sounds and saying "Cacaaaaaa.... Cacaaaaa..." Sofia was more amused than anything. She'd smile the whole time, sit on it and make the pushing sounds too and then looked at us for praise. haha! We're on Day 3 now? And she hasn't pp'ed or pooped in it once. She's peed on the floor twice because I've let her walk around without a diaper but I don't think that's working. I think I did this all wrong. I have to do some research first before I even try it. LOL Ummm... yeah, that makes more sense, right!? =D

Here's a picture of her sitting on it. hahaha! Sorry folks, only for registered members to see. Please log in! =)

Here's an audio file I made on "Voice Candy" of Sofia saying some words. I used the "mouse" sound effect so that's why we sound funny. *hehe* She's saying sooooo many words now, it's amazing. Like, seriously! She has the cutest voice. Next time I post an audio, I promise not to use any special effects. I love how at the end of it, after I tell her she's such a good talker, she laughs like, "I know...!" LOL ENJOY!

  1. When I was potty training my girls I would take them to the bathroom when I used it and then they started going on their own. with my boys I would take them every so often and sit them down with a book. The only problem now is that they want to take books to look at all the time.

  2. OMG I'm trying to remember what I did.
    1. I let them watch me, sounds gross pry to ur readers with no kids. lol And I would explain the process, mommy is going pee, you have to wipe, flush, now mommy is washing her hands. YEAH MOMMY! lmao
    2. I let the potty roam the house! lol For them to get used to it. Only for a week then it was time to move the potty in to the special room with mommy/daddy's potty.
    3. Read the potty book to them.
    4. When I sat on the potty I had them sit on the potty. Even if they did not go still had them wash hands. OH forgot NO more diapers use pull-ups so she gets used to pulling up and down undies.
    5. When they first woke up, after a meal, before bath, before bed would have them sit on the potty.
    6. I had no carpet so let them run naked, got tired of cleaning pee! lol
    7. I put on pretty panties they picked out. Only used a pull-up at night time. They sell mats for the bed so it don't go thru the mattress for night time accidents. ALLOT of times we did not make it to the potty. AND that is OK, let her know that. She is not in trouble and she will get better at holding it in to make it. Praise her when she does go! And if she poops in the pull-up our undies DUMP it in the toilette so she knows where it goes. Kids seem to get the pee faster than the pooping in the potty for some reason.
    8. Every 2 hours I would have them sit on they potty to check. I remember some day's being in there sitting on the tub for 15 min. WAITING for something to happen! LMAO Mo would say "Its coming mommy.....wait.....oh no here it comes...wait....." LOL If they did good ALL week I had a prize bag. It was $1 store stuff nothing crazy expensive. They could reach in and grab a prize! When the potty training was complete I took them to the store for a reward. Some thought I was crazy, like it was a bribe but who cares it worked and they loved it!
    9. ummmm OH yeah at home I would have them in a shirt only so it was easy to just pull down the pull-up or chonies. When we left it was a dress. Made it more easy.
    10. OH and when she learns to wipe herself remember to stress front to back. LIL girls can get UTI's too.
OK that is all I got. Hope it helps!! Good luck!!

  3. Oh the joys of potty training! With Sophia when she turned 2 I was so over diapers. We had been sitting her on a potty off and on since she was about 1 and a half so she knew what it was and what it was for. So after her 2nd birthday I switched to pull-ups but it took her about a day to figure out she could go pee in then too. So the pull-ups went away and the chonies were put on. I took her often and made a sticker chart for her. (If you want me to email you the template let me know!) Every time she went to the potty she got a sticker. It only took about 2 accidents until she totally got it! Accidents in chonies were much more effective. She did not like having to be stripped down, bathed. It was a much bigger ordeal than a wet pull-up.

    GOOD LUCK!

  4. Gee potty's have really changed since my siblings were babies and I helped with their potty training. I remember we had a simple "seat with a hole" design haha!
